Exclamation Mark!
The Broncos 23-7 victory over the Chargers today was a statement.
Coming out of the regular season, the Broncos might be the least acknowledged 13-3 team in history. Even the announcers in today’s game talked about how under the radar they are in the AFC. Between the undefeated run and the Dungy tragedy, the Colts are drawing a lot of focus. The Pats are making a great run here late in the season, and as defending champs, they are media darlings. The Bengals have the glamour boys — Carson Palmer and Chad Johnson. And all the Broncos do is win.
The Broncos served notice today. They likely don’t care what the media is saying, but they want to make sure the rest of the AFC notices. No individual players have stats that will make you turn your head, but that’s not what this team is built on. They are executing Shanahan’s game plans as well as any Broncos team in his tenure. This is a focused team and a serious contender.
Aside from the opener in Miami, the Broncos didn’t have any letdown games this year. (They usually seem to lose at least one game in the last half of the season that they have no business losing.) They were 5-2 against teams that are still in the playoff hunt. They are 8-0 at home where they would play anyone barring the Colts.
Bring on the Bengals/Patriots/Jaguars/Steelers. I can’t wait.

What happened to the Freak??? It’s been gone for two days now. Is it coming back up anytime soon?
On January 2nd, 2006 at 3:39 pm
Actually, we can’t get the Steelers until at least the AFC Championship. Since they are the 6 seed and Indy gets whoever is the lowest seed.
But still, bring on any of them. I’m not going to be afraid of any team this year. This team has a different personality from any team since 1998.
Go Broncos!
P.S. What’s up with the Freak site? November redux??
On January 2nd, 2006 at 9:03 pm
Dave,
I picked up on that after I posted. I was thinking the Steelers still had a shot at the 5th seed at the time, but nope…
Not sure what is up with BroncosFreak…haven’t heard from Harkov…

The site underwent a DNS change, so it’s been there all along…your browsers just didn’t know where to find it.
I can reach it…if you can’t, it will be back soon.

On January 3rd, 2006 at 5:27 pm
What’s going on John? Is it going to be fixed today?
On January 3rd, 2006 at 6:08 pm
DNS isn’t something you fix…you just wait for it to get to your ISP.
I can’t really tell you anymore than I already have, because that’s all I know. It’s something that happened on the server end, and Harkov has been traveling.
The site is still there and all the data is intact.
On January 3rd, 2006 at 6:13 pm
Amazing that this can’t be fixed. Playoff time, news everywhere, and can’t discuss nothing.
Sucks!!!!!!!!!! HELP!!!!!lol…

On January 3rd, 2006 at 6:38 pm
It’s odd, because I’ve had access to the site a few times today and noticed that about 20 other people had been on, but now I can’t get on again.
You can always post your finely crafted opinions as an entry here.
