Jake isn’t a Pro-Bowler
The Pro Bowl rosters have been announced, and Jake Plummer wasn’t included. He didn’t deserve to be.
Don’t get me wrong. Jake has had a great year. However, when you look at the AFC QBs who will be in Honolulu — Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Carson Palmer — it’s hard to make a case that Jake deserves it more than any of those guys.
It’s not just about the stats. Sure, all of those QBs have a better rating than Jake. The real difference, however, is that each of those guys means more to their teams than Jake does to the Broncos. If any of those guys were taking snaps for the Broncos, the Broncos would be as good or better than they are now. On the other hand, if Jake joined their teams, the same thing could not be said.
Jake deserves credit for a great season, and I don’t mean to take that away from him. He has done a great job of cutting down on the unforced errors and has managed the offense very well. But the real credit goes to Mike Shanahan for designing the offense to take advantage of Jake’s strengths. Jake is having a great year because he knows the Broncos system…and because Mike knows Jake better than ever.
I’m sure Jake would like to be in Honolulu, but without a doubt, he’d rather be playing in Detroit the week before. I’m hoping for the same.

I totally agree, Freak. Jake has played well and is having his best season as a pro. But Carson Palmer, Peyton Manning, and Tom Brady are on an entirely different level than Jake. Those other 3 QBs are capable of carrying a team on their back while Jake clearly needs the support of his teammates to play at a high level.

Oops, thought the first one didn’t go through. I am actually stoked with Jake, he doesn’t deserve a pro Bowl or even MVP because it is largely Shanahan’s brilliance in coaching him and restraining him and accentuating his strengths that have made him such an efficient QB this year.

Jakes doing an adequate job. I don’t think he is pro-bowl material but he is playing much more intelligent football.

Jake does not need a Pro Bowl appearance. He needs a Super Bowl ring. He can get that by playing inside the system that Shanny has given him.

I think Jake has done exactly what he has been asked to do this year. He’s been a factor in our success.
However, in the AFC, how can you argue with Brady, Manning and Palmer?
Now, look at the jokes in the NFC. Vick? DelHomme? Gimme a break. Where’s Hasslebeck??

I was kinda upset when I found out that Jake wasn’t in the pro-bowl, but honestly, everyone that did go deserves to. There were just too many good AFC QB’s.

Jake is doing everything he’s being asked to do. He manages the offense very well and, when he needs to, has been able to step up and make plays. It’s unfortunate that he has such a bad rep, al beit deserved, because when he does make a mistake or a “bone head” play we all tend to over react.
No he’s not pro-bowl material this year in the AFC but if he was playing in the NFC the way he is now Jake Plummer may be the starter in Hawaii.

Of course I realize Hasselbeck made the Pro Bowl, but he’s not the top vote getter. Vick is. That’s just crap.

Jake has been playing well and not to lose. I don’t believe he deserves the Pro Bowl this year. There are other QB’s that deserve it more.

If he plays another year or two at this level, wins a couple of playoff games, he’ll get his shot.

I still think it’s bogus. He did all he was asked and led his team to a better record than Brady. Tom’s #s aren’t THAT much better. BS I say!
